Sarah Herndon has called North Georgia home for the last 24 years. She met her husband Mike 26 years ago. After dating long distance, Sarah decided to buy a little house and move to LaFayette, GA so Mike could court her. As luck would have it, he proposed and they have been married for 22 years. They have lived in Chickamauga, GA for the past 17 years.
Their oldest son, Hunter, is a Freshman at Sewanee, The University of the South, where he is a Business: Finance Major and plays Baseball and their daughter Edie, is a sophomore at Baylor School with a focus on their Research Track and rows on their Rowing Team.
Many parents have said, “I love it when my kids go play at Mrs. Herndon’s house. They always come home saying yes ma’am, no ma’am. The Herndons have the best manners.” Sarah comes by it honestly. Her parents knew one of the secrets to being a successful adult was having perfect manners. It is a way of having self-discipline, showing respect and thoughtfulness
“My brother, sister and I called our BEST behavior our GRANDADDIO BEHAVIOR after our great grandfather. My kids now call their BEST BEHAVIOR their Field Club Behavior after my mom and dad’s country club. Even if you tell my kids they can start eating before the host has sat down, they won’t; not until I sit down and pick up my fork.”
Sarah’s family has been in the Social Register for 7 generations.
Many of you may know Sarah as “Miss Sarah.” She owned First Step Dance Studio in Rock Spring, GA where she enjoyed teaching ballet, tap and jazz for 10 years. North Georgia Cotillion is the perfect combination of 3 of Sarah’s passions: our youth, etiquette and dance. Sarah wants to educate our youth about what may seem like old-fashioned manners but how important they are in today’s world and in their future adult world.... while having fun!
